Building Aotearoa’s Snow and Ice Research Community Hub

This website keeps Aotearoa’s snow and ice research community connected. Following chat at the SIRG 2025 meeting about sharing resources, the website is now envisaged as a community hub for us all to contribute to.

All SIRG members are warmly invited to create blog posts and help keep the site up to date. You can now also subscribe to an email digest to receive notifications when new content is posted.

When you’re ready to contribute, email me at alex(dot)winter(hyphen)billington(at)vuw(dot)ac(dot)nz and I’ll set you up with contributor access. Don’t worry if it’s new to you — the platform is simple and easy to use.

What to Post

Any content relevant to the NZ snow and ice research community is welcome (excluding product advertisements). Suggested topics include:

  • Highlights of new publications
  • Ideas for research or collaboration
  • Event notices and meeting notes
  • Informal field reports and heuristics from the field
  • Brief research updates
  • Funded project summaries
  • New data sets

Pages that want your data

The website also hosts pages that gather useful shared information. We can all now be responsible for keeping these up to date.

Let’s work together to make the SIRG website a vibrant, community‑driven hub for snow and ice research in Aotearoa. Huge thanks to Tim Kerr for keeping the site active and relevant for so many years.
